What is the difference between natural and man-made stones?

All of our gemstones, both natural and handmade (synthetic) are ethically sourced from India or Hong Kong and are of the highest quality (AAA).

Natural stones are mineral crystals found in nature, which are then cut and polished, to make various forms of jewellery.

Handmade (synthetic) stones are made in the laboratory, however they share virtually the same chemical, optical, and physical characteristics of the natural stones.

What is Vermeil?

Vermeil is the highest quality gold plating technique available on jewellery. Cheaper versions of gold plating use less expensive base metals such as brass or copper. In Vermeil, the base metal is always 925 Sterling Silver.

Our gold Vermeil is plated with 18ct gold. Vermeil pieces are generally gold plated with the required minimum of 2.5 microns. Maviada jewellery has a plating of 3.0 microns to ensure the best quality possible.

How do I look after my jewellery?

Maviada jewellery is designed to be worn on a daily basis for maximum enjoyment. Maintaining your jewellery will preserve and prolong its life and quality.

Normal everyday use and daily exposures to harsh chemicals, cosmetic products, moisture and humidity,  prolonged sunlight, and transpiration may result in damage to jewellery and should be avoided. Avoid contact with creams and sprayed perfumes. Remove jewellery when showering and bathing and do not wear in salty or chlorinated waters.

Jewellery should be stored in a cool, dark, dry place. Use an Ultra Soft jewellery polishing cloth to keep jewellery looking its absolute best. Other types of products, especially liquid jewellery cleaners have a high incidence of damaging the stones and are highly discouraged from usage.

What type of packaging do you provide?

All orders come carefully stored in either our branded travel pouches for bracelets and small necklaces or, for larger orders, in our handcrafted branded white travel pouches with our exclusive white interior trays and individual Maviada blue signature boxes, all complimentary.
